Happy New Years to all!
I will be performing at the 31st Annual New Years Benefit Reading for the Poetry Project at St. Mark’s Church (2nd Avenue at 10th Street) along with 150 artistic luminaries including Philip Glass, Patti Smith, Eric Bogosian, Marc Ribot, Todd Colby and many many more! The event starts at 2 in the afternoon on Saturday January 1st and lasts until 3 in the morning, I’ll be performing a song with Tim Milk and Sara Wendt between 6 and 7pm. Admission is $16, $12 for students and seniors, and you can come and go all day.
And here’s my mid-winter solstice/new year poem:
A PEARLY SLIVER OF SILVERY WHITE
SHIVERING SAILS ON THE FROZEN SEA NIGHT
WITH HALF THE WORLD IN PITCHY DARK
AND HALF THE WORLD IN LIGHT
THE LIGHT O THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON!
O CLOUDS AND KINGS AND COMETS O
THE BRIGHT WINGS OF THE SKY
O NUTMEG TREES O SEVEN SEAS
REVOLVING IN A BELL-BIRD’S EYE
THE LIGHT O THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON!
CLOUDS SHED THEIR SNOW ON THE MEADOWS BELOW
O THE LIGHT O THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON!
ON THE PINEY TWINEY FOREST ALL A-GLOW.
